Renewables Global Status Report


This report is a synthesis of the renewable energy situation worldwide, in both developed and developing countries. It includes markets and industry, policies, investments, and rural energy. It also includes a wealth of up-to-date reference tables and a number of special features and sections. The latest 2016 edition follows previous editions for 2005-2015 (see below). The report, along with many other related materials and an on-line policy map/database, is available at the REN21 website.

2006 Update Edition

The Renewables Global Status Report 2006 Update edition, REN21 (Paris) and Worldwatch Institute (Washington, DC), 32 pp. (Lead author Eric Martinot) is a 10-page update to the original 2005 report (see below), plus supplemental notes and references and a special section on trends in private finance and investment. The report is also avalaible in Chinese, German, and Japanese. A summary article of the 2006 update appeared in the July-August 2006 issue of Renewable Energy World magazine.

2005 Edition

The Renewables 2005 Global Status Report, REN21 and Worldwatch Institute (Washington DC), 37 pp. (Lead author Eric Martinot) is a first-ever synthesis of the renewable energy situation worldwide, in both developed and developing countries. It includes markets, policies, investments, industry, and rural energy. The REN21 Renewable Energy Policy Network sponsored the report. Worldwatch Institute produced the report for REN21. The report is also avalaible in Chinese, German, and Japanese. A summary of the report also appeared in the Renewable Energy World Nov-Dec 2005 issue.
